FAQs
-
The simple answer is Yes. Although the actual riding level is easy to moderate, some experience riding a bike is a must. The e-Bikes are very easy to ride, and we conduct a 20 minute safety briefing at the start of each tour and check in individually with each participant before we depart.
-
By all means, you can supply your own helmet if you prefer, but it is not necessary. We will provide each participant with a ‘one size fits all’ Ampd Bros Urban Bike Helmet, which are CE / CPSC / AS/NZ Certified. Each helmet has a large size adjustable disc so will fit all heads, big & small.
-
Comfort is key. Wear comfortable clothing as if you would going for a normal bike ride. Bring a light jacket if the forecast looks a bit cool and closed toe shoes are a must. We also encourage sunglasses & suncream when applicable, and encourage you to bring a bottle of water.
The venues & dinner destination does not have any dress code. They know we are arriving on e-Bikes!
-
The ride is classified as ‘easy’. You can use as much ‘pedaling power’ as you see fit. For those who are after a relaxed day, we teach you a ‘rotating the pedals’ method of riding the e-Bike, which allow you to cruise along at a good speed, with little to no effort. There are a few moderate inclines on the ride, but once taught how to use an e-Bike correctly, these will be a breeze.
We have had riders; young & old from 15yo to 78yo, plus big & small. No rider has never not completed the journey. And… according to our perfect reviews, everyone seems to love it! Especially those who are apprehensive at first. Our Ride Leaders take safety & customer enjoyment very seriously.
-
Although the majority of the e-Ride is on designated bike paths or in designated bike lanes, there is some parts where riding on a road on the Healesville eXperience is required.
These will usually be performed on quiet streets and will be performed under the instruction of the ride leader in single file, where your safety is our absolute focus. Our Rider Leaders are AusCycling trained & accredited to lead groups on roads.
-
It is much preferred personal items are kept with the individual, in safe, preferably zipped pockets. The Ride Leaders may carry a backpack which can be used for any light items.
In the event Yarra Valley X has a convoy car for the ride (operational on some larger group rides), then items may be left at own risk to be collected at the destination.
-
e-Bike eXperiences can still go ahead with forecasted rain, as long as it is not severe. Routes/times may be altered to ensure completion. In the event of severe weather (e.g. excessive rain, lightning, etc.) where the e-Bikes are not used at all, a credit will be given for the determined pro-rata amount of the e-Bike contribution to the Tour.
A Yarra Valley eXperience on a minibus, taking in same, similar or increased site visits, along with planned hospitality lunch or dinner, can still occur to maximise enjoyment of the client.
-
If an eXperience is completely cancelled due to the decision of Yarra Valley X, then a full refund will be offered. If an eXperience is cancelled by the client, then a credit will be offered if it is greater than 7 days from the eXperience start date. If less than 7 days till departure, no refund will be offered.
-
Riding bikes carries risk with a chance or injury. Each tour will have a minimum of one ride leader who will be an AusCycling accredited to lead groups, experienced in group riding and qualified for First Aid & CPR.
